Hi, Can anybody tell me how to get a socket on the two nuts at the top of the solenoid? I pulled the red caps off, but there is no way a socket will fit over the nut with the red covering.

Do you need special sockets?

Is there a trick?

Also, as I was trying to force a socket on the nut, i dropped the socket and it fell under the engine. I put my hands under the engine to feel around for it and I noticed a puddle of oil sitting down there. It does not seem to be burning oil as I have had it out quite a bit the last couple months and check the oil regularly. Is it possible that somebody spilled this oil during an oil change and it's still sitting there? Or is this some type of lubrication tactic? It was definitely motor oil. I have got an OIL error the last two times i took it out. I shut it down immediately, checked the oil. Oil level was fine so I fired it back up and it was fine for the entire day both times. No more errors after the initial OIL error. Oil error never reappeared. I did order the two oil sensors as I think this is what is causing the OIL error.

But feeling that puddle of oil under the engine has me wondering.

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated!

The socket will fit. Just shove in there. I did it a month ago. It didn't seem like it would fit but the rubber on the cables will make room for the socket.

Gosh i struggled for two hours with it. One thing I may have done wrong was remove the solenoid from the bracket first. Maybe I should have left it bolted on?

Unless it's somehow different than the one I did. I would definitely loosen the cables before unbolting the solenoid.

If the ski is still on the trailer....just lift the tongue over your head...hope the socket falls aft of the motor where you'll be able to retrieve it easily. Outside of that....a telescoping magnet is the final hope...unless you can find your go-go-gadget-arms.
