I'm looking for a pair of PWCs to bring on a houseboat trip next year. The plan is to buy now, use for a season and sell next year or the spring of '26. I might use these 5 times max in the next year, probably mostly just around the lake with my kids, possibly some towing on their knee board, but minimal. Stability with my kids on it (I remember an old XP we used to have-that thing tipped over just from leaning wrong!) and reliability is probably the key for me more so than speed, anything that can do 40-50 mph is plenty. No Superchargers! In my budget I keep coming across 04-05 GTX and tons of 2 strokes. I'm not scared of 2 strokes, it's all I had when we used to ride PWCs as a teen and I rebuild 2 stroke ATVs as a side hustle. I think I know which 2 stroke injection systems/engines to avoid, but if I can get a 4 stroke in my budget it's probably preferable. So my question is what should I watch for with the 04-06 era GTX and GTX wake editions. How many hours is too many?
