I have a 2003 sportster (2 stroke, DI, single engine)... Two days ago the boat was making 6900 RPM's... when we got to the ramp it started to mis-fire. I got home and noticed the plugs were in need of a changing. I replaced them yesterday and took her out... the mis-firing went away but now i noticed i'm only making 5700-5900 RPM's... I gapped them according to spec (which is a small and tight gap)... I put the 91 octane ethanol free fuel in it. So i guess i need to start some trouble shooting... some suggestions on what and where to check would be awesome and much appreciated.

Also, I have the flush port under the hatch and at the rear... any suggestions on which one to use or what one is better? If i use the one on the top do i need to pinch off any lines? Do i run the engine while flushing? I'm NEW to these types of boats...

Another question... when accellerating from a stop if i get into the throttle too much the boat cavitates (only when i have four adults and i assume due to the weight) white smoke (steam?) is visible... is that good or bad? I usually back down a bit until that goes away... and i usually have someone on the front to help get on plane faster...

Any and all advice, suggestions and etc is welcomed... There are two more of these on the lake i go to but the owners are just operators and not DIY'ers... their sea doos live on the back end of their houseboats... they have too much $$$ to worry about maintenance and etc...

Thanks!
