First boat purchase. The boat im looking at is a 2003 seadoo sportster le,it is in great shape but has no hour metter to tell how many hours are on the machine. You can tell it is in great shape and the past two owners have taken care of it.
Has the 130hp rotex,monster wakeboard tower,trailer,and cover.
Runs good but will need new spark plugs.
The private seller is asking 6700 which I think is a little because its a 8 years old machine with a two stroke motor.
Is this a good buy and do these boats hold up. Not wanting to buy something that im going to have to dumb a crapload of money into all year.

I have a 2001 Sportster le. It's a great little boat and tons of fun. I'm just not sure I'd want to pay that kind of money for one. Depending on condition, I might give $6,000, but no more. If you could pick it up for 6 or less, then I'd say it's a reasonable deal. Does it have a good bimini top, a good cover, stereo, etc.?

Honestly, with the season approaching us quickly, it's probably a typical "retail" number on it. I paid $4200 for my '04 Sportster LE DI last August, with trailer, cover, all in great shape. Nice garage kept unit. End of season and motivated seller. But with this economy nothing will bring what we used to see...

Just my two cents.

I personally wouldn't buy the 2 stroke 130hp version, especially with a wake tower!! Would be too under powered to do any type of wake boarding or skiing behind it. I also think the guys asking price is too high...I bought an 03 sportster 4TEC last Sept. for $5,800 with 40 hrs on it!! Only problem you have is your looking at the wrong time of season to buy a boat, right now prices are going to be high...if you can wait you can get some really great deals starting early-mid Aug.
