Hi. I'm really new to boating (never owned a boat before neither did my family or wife's family). I like the Seadoo Sportster models and I want to get one (I have a family of 4, so it's good to all go on the water together and not too big). I saw one yesterday: 2003, 4tec, 155hp, less than 200 hours, one owner, extremely clean boat. Never been winterized (in Ontario Canada) because was stored in a heated garage. In fact, even in the summer, when they did not use it, they put it in their garage, which has a railing pulley system to bring the boat directly to the water. Owners tells me he has not done much on this boat, change the oil every year and changed spark plugs last year. Odometer and tachometer gauges do not work anymore (which I understand is a known problem for these) and he said he has to keep topping up the anti-freeze (1 inch or so every month). Any advise? Will this be a money pit since nothing was changed since 2003? Owner tells me these boats are quite reliable and don't require much other than regular maintance. Any thoughts appreciated.
