2003 speedster PROBLEMS!!!

I will try to make this as short as possible. Bought the boat in March, great shape and runs like a champ but the fuel gauge doesn't work. Not much of an issue. The fuel gauge showed about half. Last week we hit a large wave and when we hit the water the gauge dropped to empty and a constant beeping started. In my stupidity I assumed it was the a fuel alarm and didn't worry about it. Didn't have and problems until the boat sucked up at stick. Lost power, the engine was struggling and running very rough. Got a tow to the marina, took it home, found the stick and removed it. Still runs rough. Did some research and found out the continuous alarm could could be low oil or a number of thing. Well it was low oil. Added oil to the main tank and the tank on the motor. Still get the alarm and still runs rough. Any help is much appreciated.
 
There are 2 oil tanks on these engines. The main tank, and the tank on the engine. The sender is in the engine tank. Since it's a 2 tank system... you have to bleed the air out of the engine tank normally. The easiest way is to just open it, and top it off.

BUT... the real question is... how low was that engine tank? Did you run the engine out of oil?

I do not know how low it was. Might not have been completely out but close.

The low oil sensor in the header tank is a common failure. It is a simple float with a magnet that works a reed switch. Open or closed. You can disconnect the wires from the cap and check with a ohm meter.
