Hey everyone , i have been having a problem with my deck drain letting water in while parked and motor off , not much but it is right under the drivers seat. I took the valve off before i put it in the water for the first time yesterday, and cleaned it and everything looked good. Took it out yesterday and same thing , i was reading in another post that the sculpture valve should face down ? Mine faces towards the front of the boat? Wondering which way is correct , as i reinstalled the same way i took it off ....

Hey !
My boat is in storage but I will be there on Sunday so I could check. I took a picture a while ago and it looks that mine is facing down. But mine is also leaking. My understanding is that you should replace it...not clean it. You can even buy repair kit or a new one.
I would remove it and bring it to marine store to see if the holes match. Not sure if they are universal size.

Thx , I bought one off eBay on tue and it came in today , same size just made by sea choice I believe . I applied a little silicone around rubber seal and reinstalled w the outlet facing the front of the boat . Let me know what way yours is facing ? I couldn't find a picture of it anywhere , but one other person said it should face the front also .....

Hmmm.... Now I'm really confused on which way it should go . Lol , have u ever had a probelm w yours leaking?

Hey, the hole in the black cover is at the bottom and the hole where the ball seals against inside the scupper valve has to be at the top, when the ball goes in water it starts to float and it seals against the rubber seal inside stopping water from going into the boat, sometimes you may get stuff in the drain like pine needles, leaves, bobby pins, etc. it will allow water in the boat/cockpit. because it can't seal, remove the 4 stainless philips screws and pull the cover, ball and rubber seal and shove a garden hose into the drain in the cockpit and flush it out and reassemble, make sure the seal isn't deformed where the ball seals or it won't seal very well.

correct, I may be mistaken on the hole in the rubber seal though, I thought it should be at the top but looking at the parts diagram it looks like it suppose to be at the bottom, either way I am sure there is a alignment tab on the rubber seal and the plastic part that the seal and cover screw to, you likely have something stuck in it between the ball and seal.

Ok awesome , I took my old one off and it was facing towards the front , I since ordered a new one and reinstalled the same way as of last night lol , I'm gonna flip it so its down today . And you are correctly the gasket and scupper have a alignment tab so it will only face one way . Thanks again

Not sure if you have fixed your problem, but i had a similar issue on my 04 sportster. The hose that ran from inside the boat to the valve was drooping inside the engine bay, I tied the hose up a little so it wasnt drooping down and it fixed my problem.

I haven't taken the boat back out yet since its been raining and freezing cold out still lol , should that hose be just laying on the hull of the boat?
