my 2003 seadoo challenger with a 240 efi mercury now other member say its going into limp mode and i.ve heard of guardian mode but whats happening is my boat start fine and don't shut off but when in the water about 5 min it start beeping and it won't go over or should i say very little rpms guessing this is limp mode but i took it to a place the did something but they say they did fix anything but must have reset something but it ran great for a moment then went back into the same thing non experience with repair to boat motors

We need more information.

What kind of beeping? A steady tone, or "beep beep beep"?

When you say "it won't go over or should i say very little rpms", do you mean it won't rev up past a certain RPM limit? What is that limit? What happens when it hits that limit, or you try to push it past that limit? Does it just stop going faster, or does it cough and sputter? If the latter, once it starts coughing does it stop if you back off the throttle a little bit or do you need to bring it all the way back to idle before it calms down?

Have you confirmed you have water coming out of the "pee hole" on the rear of the boat when the engine is running? Is that water warmer than the lake water?

Have you felt the engine's cylinders or heads to see if the engine is getting warm or too hot?

We can help you a lot more if you give us better info.

you asked if the water was coming out my boat peep hole yes if the water is not warmer what would that indecate?

Water coming out there indicates you have cooling water circulating through the engine heads. That's a good thing, it means your cooling system isn't (completely) blocked.

The water should get warmer as the engine gets warmer. Obviously a cold engine freshly started will not be warming the water much.

and if the heads are getting hot??

If the heads are getting hot while the pee hole water is staying cold, then you don't have proper circulation in the water jackets. The pee hole combines water from both heads, so theoretically one could be completely blocked (and getting hot) while the other one was being properly cooled.

Check the heads. Is one/both hot while the pee hole water is staying cold?

when you say peep hole. the hole on the side of the boat correct. is there anyway to blow air to get unclogged or is there something else they do to unclog a system when for some reason gets clogged??

There are a lot of holes in a boat. Let's be clear what we're discussing.

The pee hole is small, about the diameter of a pencil for Mercury and a bit smaller for Rotax. Every one I've seen is mounted on the back (transom) of the boat, not on the side. This is true even on jetskis. The holes on the side are generally fuel tank vents, bilge pump outlets, etc. and are larger in opening than the pee hole. You don't normally have water coming out of the side holes, but you should ALWAYS have water coming out of the pee hole if the engine is running.

You should have a steady stream of water coming out of the pee hole when the engine is running. The water should be cold when the engine is cold and warm when the engine is warm, since the water coming out will have passed through the engine block (but not the exhaust system, it's taken off the water cooling system ahead of the exhaust).

Find the pee hole. Start the engine. If you don't have water coming out very soon, shut off the engine and start looking for reasons why you either aren't getting water into the engine or aren't getting water out.

If you do have water, its temperature should track that of the engine, particularly the heads. The two heads should be the same temperature at all times. If one is cold and the other hot, you have a cooling system blockage.

Go see what your pee hole water is doing, and then report back.
