My low oil warning light and alarm sounded with over a gallon of oil still in the tank. I proceeded to fill the tank hoping this would correct the issue but to no avail. I'm told the tank has a float that may be "stuck" and can possible be freed by gently probing a screw driver to dislodge it. Anu other ideas?

There are 2 tanks for 2-stroke oil. There is a 3.5 gal. remote tank and an engine mounted tank that holds about a quart. That small tank is the one that has the float switch in the cap. It is a simple small magnet on a float. When the float drops (no oil) it closes a magnetic reed switch and triggers the alarm. If you can remove the cap, you should be able to move the float up and down. It should trigger low oil alarm as you move it. Check all the wires that go to the cap.

I was able to disconnect one of the leads to the small oil tank which disabled the alarm but not the light on dash. I was able to pull probe from that tank and use a probe to try to free the float. There is also another cap that when removed oil will leak out. When removing the plastic probe I loosened one screw to do so. Does that cap come off as well? Not sure if I need to replace the entire tank? $160?
Thanks!

You need to buy a new tank. I just did.

Tank ordered! Now trying to replace fuel filter 35-18458-2 but can't locate that exact serial number. Last digit is now 3 ,4, or 5? Anyone know what that last digit represents? Thanks!
