Was getting an over heating alarm on the Islandia.

Back flushed all the lines, they’re clear but learned that my air compressor is getting extremely hot after running the engine for a couple of minutes. Doesn’t seem normal, too hot to even touch.

I also found my water strainer sitting in the bottom of the engine compartment, which can’t be good. I had no idea what it even was, had to do some research, I thought it was some type of drain.

Suggestions?

Not real familiar with Optimax compressor, but--

Heat can come from at least 2 places. The actual compressing of air and friction. Friction from moving part that may be mis-aligned or too tight a fit. Isn't that compressor watercooled? Are you getting proper flow? Are you testing on a hose or in the water? Is your compressor getting proper lube?

Google "mercury optimax compressor".
