Newbie here! I am the proud new owner of a 2003 gtx di for about three weeks. Until yesterday, the ski ran fine with 0 problems. After pulling a tube and shutting her down, the engine would not start. It turns over fine and has spark. Also, I hear the fuel pump working. I installed new plugs and checked all of the fuses. Still, nothing. Any suggestions?

It may well be the battery. Had a similar problem on my GTX DI and looked at the starter, the solenoid, even the pole switch, but it was the battery. Even showing 12.59 V it had no cranking power. Take it out and have it checked at Autozone or Kragen.

Nope... it's not the battery. It is new. It checked out perfect on my compusmart charger. It cranks when gas is poured in the cylinders. I took off the gas line and fuel is present at the injectors. Now, it's time to look at the injectors to make sure they are getting juice.

The charger will only tell you it has a full 12 volts...it won't tell you it has a bad cell or 2, which would allow the battery to only put out low amps to start the engine. You have to have the battery LOAD tested to check the cells under load. go to Auto Zone or similar for a free test, if in doubt.

I really don't think it's the battery. When I pour fuel mix in the cylinders and turn it over... it fires right up. One thing I thought about earlier(after I put the ski up) was that maybe the oil level is low... therefore triggering some sort of safety mode??? the level is up to the top of the rear sump part of the oil tank... But, is not really up the level of the forward thin part. The maint light was popping off when I put it in the water before the issue; but, I thought it was because the ski just crossed over 150 hours. Is oil level a possibility?

I suppose it could be the injectors, but that is unlikely that both would fail at the same time. The symptom would then be the engine running rough. Same with the fuel filter. This is often the problem with these injected engines - it's hard to diagnose the fault without hooking it up to BUDS. Which you may well have to do in the absence of error codes.

I did some more self diagnosing today as the Seadoo shop here has a 2 week turnaround:(... even on just a buds test. I did a noid light scan on the injector inputs and verified that they were getting proper signal. Does anyone have a hint for me to help me along?

Maybe, (if your bat leads are long enough) you could leave the present bat hooked up, and hook up jumpers, while holding the bat OUTSIDE the ski. (You are not supposed to jump them with the bat inside, as sparks, and a little gas vapor can cause a fire) and then ELEMINATE the possible voltage problem. The voltage problem could cause the injectors to not fire right.

OR maybe place a hi-speed fan blowing over it , to REMOVE ALL FUEL vapors and jump it. Keep the fan running.

There is not a battery issue. Believe me. I have a friend that owns a powersports shop. We verified the batt by installing a new one with the same results.

Do you think that the fuel pump is delivering enough preasure?

That is something I thought about. I did unhook the the line at the injectors to test flow, which seemed adequate; but, I did not test the pressure. I'd think that if it didn't have enough pressure, it would at least stumble or try to start. I'm inclined to think, now, that the problem may be a fuel or air regulator. Has anyone here had the same problem with a di?

I would check the fuel pump preasure. I have read that the air compressors have a bad problem but I have not read any where that they could have a no start problem. I belive that it could be other problems as well as I think that your model may have other sensers that may not allow for a start. Every thing needs to be checked out and a buds test is probbly the best place to start. Good luck Robin:cheers:

Have you had a compression test on it? not all problems will show up on the buds test I am not sure if fuel preasure is one of them but with a litle searching I think that I could find that answer.

It sounds to me your problem could be 2 things. I would check Air Fuel Rail and check Air Compresser System. You need a B.U.D.S. system on hand to check out any other fuel system components. It is also possible that the mpem is bad. The tests are something a Seadoo Dealer will have to complete to resolve the problem. The BUDS system alone might not detect the problem, but you need it on hand while doing tests. Special guages and fittings are needed to do the job right.

I was finally able to find a dealer that was able to get me in and out for the BUDS. I had to drive 80 miles though:(. The BUDS test showed that everything was functioning normally. The tech suggested that I check the air and fuel delivery system for water first. Then look at fuel delivery. I was kinda bummed that he could not isolate the problem. But, I went home and checked the air comp first. It was fine. Then, I checked fuel pressure. Not with a guage; but, with my finger. I was easlily able to hold it back with little pressure. Then, I removed the fuel line on my friends di and did the same with his. It sprurted past my thumbs grip and all over the place;). So, I've definitely narrowed the problem to my filter or pump. In the morning, I'm going to finger test pressure before the filter... Then, change the pump or filter. Thanks, guys, for all of your help.
