No.........that would defeat all the research and development put into the DESS system by the engineers.

The DESS (digital electronic security system) is designed to keep your ski/boat from theft. The post has a magnetic communcation hub on it. The lanyard cap has a ROM (read only memory) inside it. It sends a signal to the MPEM (multi purpose electronic module) that your cap is the correct one. You'll hear 2 beeps, that signal that the mpem has realesed the CDI igntion for power to start..........

There is no if, ands or buts..........you must have the proper lanyard.:cheers:

ok thanks but how do you know if its bad? i get no beeps nothing and it wont start if i jump over the starter rely it will turn the starter i check the power on the wire and it gets it to the post but thats it any help would be good or do i need a knew post?

not trying to argue, but from what you are describing the DESS system is quite similar to GMs automotive version with their PASSKEY and PASSKEY II system...which can be bypassed (against the will of the dealer and 99.8% of mechanics)....:leaving:

but again as snipe mentioned its there to prevent theft of the craft, so why risk it?
