New member so if I mess up take it easy on me!

I put 10 gallons of premium gas in my XP last weekend and it all dumped out when I started it. Anyone else have this problem? It went straight into the rear unit and then the bilge kicked it all out. I noticed there was no water coming out the hole when the ski was running on the lift last night and for fear I didn't take it out. Should it eject water when it's not moving? Not sure if these problems are related.

Fire away!

Welcome to the seadoo forum woodydoo99. First thing the seadoo runs on 87 octane fuel. Premium is a waste of money as it won't make a difference. It doesn't need premium. How did the gas get into the hull of the boat? That would be my first concern. Gas in hull of the boat is a safety hazard big time. Here is some information on running on the hose. You can hook up the hose to the seadoo and have it run for up to 5 minutes. Connect the hose and start the seadoo. Turn on the water after it is started. Turn off the water, than shut down the seadoo. This way it won't allow water to back flow into the engine through the exhaust due to no back pressure from the engine not running. The bearings and seals on the impeller jet pump are cooled from being in the water. When it is on the trailer it doesn't have that cooling effect so they will get hot after about 5 minutes.
I pre start my seadoo's too, dry before I leave for the launch too. Just for a second or 2 to be sure it will start at launch. Peace of mind is worth lot. Water should always come out or the "Tell Tail" hole at the rear of the seadoo all the time it is running on the hose or in the water. If it isn't check the cooling hoses for a blockage. Keep us posted on your progress and if it is still giving you problems give us a shout back. Do you have a seadoo shop manual? If not here’s an idea for you. You could join as a "premium member". As a premium member you can down load a authentic seadoo manual from the seadoo manual library. In the library is a variety of manuals for almost all years and models. You can view as many as you like on line as a PDF file, or download it and print it for your personal and private use. There are operator manuals and repair manuals for you to do your own repairs on your seadoo. The repair manuals have everything from troubleshooting, repair procedures to winterizing. It contains wire diagrams torque specs and pictures for disassemble and assemble instructions. In the spec sheets it tells everything needed to maintain oil changes, spark plug gaps, carburetor rebuilds and impeller wear ring tolerances. Click on the "Seadoo Manuals" link at the top of the page for more details. If you need any help or get in a jam, we are always here to answer your questions too. That was my main question. Why would all that gas dump in there? I ran it on reserve last night on the lift and it seemed to run fine. I looked as best as I could at the gas tank to see if it was cracked, or if the main line had fallen off. I downloaded a manual at 6 am this morning (argh, stress!), but have yet to read it. I thought he tell tale holes on the XP were on the left side of the machine, near the front under the rub rail, if not, what are those?

Yea your right about the "Tell Tail"...For the gas leak, It's kinda hard to see over the internet...you'll have to check all the fuel lines and the tank for a split. Just keep looking.

Ok, so even when I'm sitting on the lift and I rev the engine, I should be getting a stream out the tell tale. I.E. the craft shouldn't have to be moving, right? It was not last night on the lift, but it was on when I was on the lake the oter day. Could I have a blockage in that line that would back up an fill the hull? A small pebble or something that got sucked in? Is there a way that could have made its way that far? Seems unlikely to me. I had pleanty of water coming out the jet and no hesitation or throttle lag or sputtering.

The "Tell Tail" lets you know it is getting cooling water. You must have a blockage somewhere. No stream of water ...no cooling to the engine.

That is what I figured. I think that one of my kids may be helping tear it down this weekend :boxing_smiley: thanks a ton, and I'll start looking from the impeller up I guess

Just check the cooling hoses and the elbows to see if something has a blockage. Don't mix up the elbows as they are specific sizes for the intended area it keeps cool.

If it is on the lift does this mean that the ski was not in the water. I am confused. I can not see how the tale tale sign {pisser] would work out of the water on a lift.

It's on the lift and in the water. It is not a cantalever lift so the intake can go into the water and the front is not in the water. It is taking in water, just not shooting it out the tell tail. I think I have a blockage somewhere, although it did pee when I was on the lake last weekend, like it dislodged then relodged.
