We purchased a used 2002 Sea Doo Challenger 1800. It ran fine initially but now we are having issues with it stalling when it reaches 4k RPM. We brought it in to get looked at and they ran all their tests in the shop and couldn't find anything obviously wrong. They then took it on the water and they are advising that they believe injectors may need replacing and that there is something loose in the gear box (unrelated to the stalling) that could give way at anytime (or could still be okay for five years- they said they don't know). They have gave the boat back and said run it as is for the rest of the summer and just sell it- cut our losses. This is our first experience as boat owners and we don't know what to do- nobody is going to buy a boat that just stalls when running. We are so disappointed and feel like we have wasted our money. Any ideas on what this could be? I'm not sure if I should even bother paying for another inspection to hear the same thing. Or maybe this person is incorrect? We have heavy duty mechanics in the family and could likely try to fix on our own if we knew what the issue was. It is also quite smoky when it is started initially- is this an issue or is this expected for a two stroke engine? Does anyone here have any insight into this, feeling super disappointed
