First time post, looking for some ideas. The boat has the 240 EFI M2. The boat hit a sandbar, sucked up sand and plugged up the works. After being towed back, the mechanic was able to flush the sand and get the cooling system clean and working. The impeller I'm told is good to go. He was also able to clear all but 2 of the engine codes. Now, the boat will only do headway speed. Does anyone have any ideas on what the remaining issue could be? I don't think the engine is junk, it seems to run just fine, just won't throttle up. Is it possible that the engine codes that won't clear are because there are more issues like a cracked block? Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Most often, engine codes appear b/c the computer is not receiving correct acceptable values from an engine sensor. It would help to know which codes are reported.

Those Seatow guys can be ruthless characters when they want.

what are the codes?

I will follow up with the codes as soon as I can. I have to fly to Florida to get them. This whole incident happened about 3 years ago, so I need to refresh my memory on what exactly has been fixed and what are outstanding problems.

3 years can be a long time in regards to cosmetics, sitting out in weather and such. It's not clear how committed you are to this boat but if you aren't in the mind of replacing the engine should it be damaged then a compression test prior to hauling it might help make the decision.

The sportjet configuration is worth repairing imo.... if the hull is decent and considering the price of boats these days. I believe that hull is rot-proof but still can be damaged beyond repair if it struck something hard enough to delaminate.

Finally got the boat home to NH to get a better look at things. Here is what i know:

The hull is fine, therefore i am going to continue with repairs.

A piece of the weed grate got broke sucked into the impeller; i took the stator assembly off and got the piece out, and the impeller is in good shape. no major dings or knicks.

There is a piece that was removed from the engine that looks to me like some sort of pressure sensor. I can't find it in the engine manual just yet. Picture below.

The engine isn't seized, all pistons are moving. Compression test will be done once i get the jet drive back together.

So, in short, right now i am hoping someone can let me know what the part that was removed from the engine is. After i get everything back together, i am bringing the boat to a seadoo dealer to get the codes read and see what they come up with. any help would be appreciated. IMG_8051.JPGIMG_8050.JPG

Any objects stuck inside the jet pump will definitely slow you down, to a crawl depending on location and size. It doesn't take much.

These are essentially Mercury outboard engines but mounted inboard and called Sportjets. A Seadoo dealer might not be able to help much unless he's also a factory trained Mercury marine dealer. ie: The Mercury Marine diagnostic analyzer will be necessary to grab/read codes.

As for the missing something, let me get back to you. I personally haven't laid my eyes on a Mercury outboard or Sportjet in quite some time.

that sensor goes to that connector that you are showing with the orange seal. Where the other end of the hose goes, i do not know as i cant see where it goes but i do see the sensor and hose like you posted on my own 240 efi. The sensor is tucked down in that hole in your pic between that big black connector (that has a green wire...then a yellow striped wire and a bunch of others) and the port side temp sensor harness if that makes any sense

FOUND IT!!! Go here and go to the last page...its the item labeled #5 on top right corner of page. looks like that hose connects at the bottom as in the pic
