First time post, looking for some ideas. The boat has the 240 EFI M2. The boat hit a sandbar, sucked up sand and plugged up the works. After being towed back, the mechanic was able to flush the sand and get the cooling system clean and working. The impeller I'm told is good to go. He was also able to clear all but 2 of the engine codes. Now, the boat will only do headway speed. Does anyone have any ideas on what the remaining issue could be? I don't think the engine is junk, it seems to run just fine, just won't throttle up. Is it possible that the engine codes that won't clear are because there are more issues like a cracked block? Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

If the engine seems to run fine then I wouldn't be quick to say it's damaged. What are the remaining fault codes, any details?

I'm also wondering why the mechanic didn't correct the remaining issue(s) was he unsure of how to proceed or did he decide major work was necessary?

How long was the engine being run after the incident, enough time to severely overheat? Of course sand clogging the cooling system will cause the engine to overheat.

Does the engine REV up? If so, the impeller may be good, but I bet the wear ring is wiped out from the sand..

I believe the guy wanted a new engine job. I will have the codes in a few weeks, I am going to Florida to pick the boat up and trailer it to NH. I wasn't on the boat when it hit, but my dad said that once the sand got in, it was curtains and SeaTow got the boat back.
