Hi Guys,

I am new to the forum and the Sea-Doo. I am having a problem with my Sea-Doo (2002 gtx d1) running not reaching full RPM and running rough. It will get up to about 20 MPH. I changed the plugs and reset the gaps (says .043 on a sticker on the ski). I see some smoke under the covers when I open things up. It generally sounds OK when running out of the water (with hose), and seems to run better at first start and get worse as it is run.

It is fuel injected. Does it still have the fuel line issues posted for 90's vintage???

I got some info on cleaning the RAVE valves, but have not checked them yet.
Fuel is fresh and it was running fine and just started acting up. No beeps or warning lights. Thanks

Smoke

The smoke you see when you remove the seat, etc. is probably a exhaust leak and that is why it's not running good after awhile. Leaking exhaust fills the engine compartment and then the engine does'nt have fresh air in order to run. Find the exhaust leak and you find the problem.

leak

THANKS!
I can definitely see exhaust building up fast, but it is coming from the front near the gas tank. Are there any lines connections in the front???

I also found a small line off in the bottom of the ski that seams to go to the right side (while sitting on the ski). There are two small connections on the bottom of the raiil (this is opposite side from the pee hole, but look like one).

Can you tell me what the big hose is that is between the legs when the seat is removed? it looks like air intake, but disappears into the left side of the ski near the pee hole

Any idea of where exhaust might come from up front?

Any idea of what the line is for and should it be disconnected?

Thanks again......

hoses

Your best bet is to go to RIVAMOTORSPORTS.COM then go to the parts finder section. Look under exhaust and cooling system sections and see if the exploded parts views can help you out.

leak

Thanks for the tips guys, I went on the site and will look some more this week end.

I did find a large bolt that had fallen out. it goes into the head pipe assembly. Probably a bad thing since it could have put the pounding onto the exhaust manifold.

Any know problems of this type out there?

I guess the good thing is that I am learning alot about my seadoo. I generally end up knowing more about my toys than I care to............:):)

muffler

Ok guys, I found the inlet pipe to the muffler is broken. I t was loose and did not feel right, so I took out the muffler and presto (well not quite presto....)borken pipe.

Can it be welded? It is a clean break, probalbly extra stress from the missing bolt above.

Low rpm success!

Thanks for the help guys I installed the repaired muffler and buttoned things back up today and everything is running great..............................!:hurray:
