Greetings,
I found a significant crack in the ride plate of my 2002 GTI LE when I pulled it out of the water. I went ahead and ordered an OEM replacement plate.
I removed the 6 bolts and cut away the exposed sealant at the forward portion of the plate. I used a fair amount of pressure on the plate to try and remove it, however it appears to be stuck well on the forward portion of the plate.
Any suggestions on how to get the sealant to release so I can remove the damaged ride plate or do I need to remove the intake grate as well before removing the ride plate.
I purchased the recommended silicon loctite sealant for replacement. There were several different loctite sealants recommended for reinstallation. Any comments on what sealants work the best.
Thanks,
Jeff
