Ok guys I am a newbie here as well as to one on a PWC. I'll try to make the story short. After looking on here since noon yesterday, I went ahead and became a Premium Member. Seems to be worth the price of admission. A little back ground, I bought this in december and it has been in the garge until yesterday. Here is my problem. I took the sea-doo out yesterday and noticed the battery was dead. I put it on the charger and being pushed for time I went ahead and bought an extra and put it in and had no issues, the doo started right up. I get it in the water and ride around no problems other than some smoke when it first fired up (which cleared up after a couple of minutes). I came around after about 5 mins and picked up my wife and we went for a little ride. about 5 mins later she decides she wants to jump in. We stop for a bit and get back on... No Start!?! I get towed (slowly) back to the ramp and a guy on the boat looks at my connections on the battery and says they were a little loose. He tightens them... still nothing. I decide, since I am around the corner from my house to go get my other battery (thinking maybe the new has a problem). We get my original battery in and it fires up. No big deal right? Well, after about 10 mins it does the same thing crank but no turn over. What is my first course of action? I have the batteries being charged as we speak but I have no idea where to go first. Sorry for the long post but I wanted to get the most detail to you guys. Thanks!!

It sounds like it could be a loose connection somewhere. I would first check the connections from the battery to the ground at the starter. Be sure it has a good connection and its tight. I would also check to see if the magnito is charging. Using a multi meter set to 12vdc connect to the battery not running. You should get like 13.2 or close to it. With the pwc running on the garden hose, check to see if it is charging back to the battery. You should get like 14.4 or so. rev it up a little as it will charge the most amount close to 5000 rpms. Don't run it longer than 5 minutes as the impeller seals and bearings will get hot. I hope this helps out. It sounds like it just has a loose connection.

Update:

Well I put in the fully charged battery and after checking all of my connections I finally got it to start. I ended up squeezing the throttle a little and it fired up pretty quickly. So far so good right? Well, I checked the magneto and it seems to be recharging the battery. It reads around 13.6 to 13.9 back to the battery while running. My neighbor came by to see how it was going and when I tried to show him it must have been a connection, because it was starting with no problems... No start!! Not even an attempt to turn the engine over. just a couple of clicks. I checked the battery and of course it is still fully charged (12.6 on the multi). I am truly lost now. Advice?

Power cables....

If you got a start and it ran, sending back a charge of 13 VDC or more, then your charging system is working well.

Where are your battery cables connected to? Your positive cable to the solenoid and your ground to a grounding lug, on the starter. If this is correct, try this. Remove the ground cable from the battery while changing position. Try to re-ground the battery to another source (another area of the block only!) or remove the bolt, used for grounding the starter and ensure it's clean. No oil or any dirty residue that can cause insulating. Check the starters positive and make sure it isn't loose. Make sure it isn't touching any other metal on the starter but that metal lug.

From what your describing, you still have a connection that's loose. Another thing you may consider is the condition of the insulated wire. If you can expose the wire, at the ends of the lugs etc..., are they a bright copper color or dull looking greyish black?
