Hey guys, I know i don’t post in here much. But i read daily. Hopefully you guys can help me. I was on the beach this weekend riding my ski. After about 4 hours one of my buddies came in and said that it was hesitating really bad. So i jumped on it and it started to act like it was missing. Finally it shut off.

Well i got the ski back to shore, was a easy swim pushing it by hand. Anyways, i would try to turn the ski on. It would never fire back up. I pulled the plugs and got it too turn over, their was no water in the cylinders. The plugs where a little wet from gas.

During trying to start the ski, it would try to start by itself. I was'nt pushing the start button. It did this numerous of times.

Well I loaded it up and drove home. One of my friends knows alot about seadoo, so he tried to walk me thru too get it started. It would never start. I put the battery charger on it. Well i ended up taking the ecu out of my 99 and trying it. It would beep 2 times then nothing. I could take the key out and it would still beep, without my pushing anything.
i disconneced the key plug, and it still beeped. I got a test light and checked all the fuses for ecu all had power.
I checked the big red wires on front solenoid top one had power , bottom had no power.

I think tried too check if the yellow/red was getting power while hitting start button and nothing. The ski would keep beeping without any key installed. I unplugged the 3 plugs in the rear of ski and still got nothing.

If you guys know what else i could check, it would be greatly appreciated. The ski don’t turn over or anything anymore.

Are you saying it would try to start all by itself? As in you could be looking at it and it tried to start? If so, it's a new one to me but I'd be looking at the start/stop switch first.

Yea it would try to start byitself. I had the key in it, and would be standing next too it and it tries to start. Its done that a few times. But now it wont start at all. but it will contniue too beep with the key installed

It's definitely electrical, but I'm not sure the 99 mpem is compatible with the newer one. WHERE IS SNIPE

That seadoo is possessed, put it in the dunking chair.

Yea wish it was that easy, i just got them both over the winter. Im really starting to get too the point where i dont even want them anymore.

i would say check the starter switch by unplugging the wires and testing the omhs and see if the switch went out on you. Maybe its staying on and compleating the curcit

Good luck

one thing you might check as far as the beeping stuff if you switched the mpem from 99 I believe you need to be using the 99 dess key as it is program to the mpem not the post.. as for run away starter deal good luck I had a 88 ford that would kinda due that it was the starter solenoid

Well i let the ski sit for a couple days, since i have been working alot. I get home and it fires right up. Kinda weird..
I figured out the start button is sticking. So i need a new one,and idea where i can buy one.

Something else i removed the VTS cover and their was still water in there,so i read somewhere that can mess with the ecu also.

the 99 and 01 xp mpems are basically the same and interchangeable, 98 is different(single coil system). the start buttons do fail on occasion by sticking closed, just diconnect the plug under the hatch and use a jumper wire and see if it tries to start.
