Purchased 2001 RX DI Seadoo this year. In June the drive shaft broke. Some wear on the splines, but I would not say excessive for the year. Had drive shaft, pump and impeller replaced. Repair shop said they ran the ski and all was fine. However on my first outing the splines on the pump end stripped. Can anyone try to explain what would cause this? Repair shop owners said it was my holding throttle open when hitting waves. I have since had all the parts replaced by another shop and I have not had any trouble

If it failed that quick... either they put in old (crappy) parts... or the drive was WAY out of alignment.

Sounds like the original shop owes you some parts.

When I took it back to the original shop they wanted me to buy more parts, but I would not have to pay to have them installed. They insisted that it was stripped because the ski was coming out of the water (no load) and when it hit the water again (full load). I would think if that were the cases every jet ski made would be in the shop after each use.

Yes... that can cause damage... but if the parts were good, and installed properly... you can beat on it for years before having an issue like that.
