I recently bought this ski with the battery wires disconnected so im about to put the engine back in i just rebuilt and need to know the ground locations. I see the small grounds from the wiring harness that go to the mag housing, but where do you put the main ground from the battery?

I also found a long thin ground wire laying near the battery that was burnt but not hooked up. Are there 2 battery grounds and if so , locations?

I see no one has answered this, but there's a large ground line that'll run from the battery to the starter. The other ground you're referring to near the rear electrical box also hooks to the battery negative post.

The grounds going to the mag area are grounded at the case and in the MPEM, to complete the loop once the engine is installed the starter is bolted on and grounded. It is possible to test electronics WITHOUT the engine installed, just ground the connector at the mag back to the battery. I ran a wire grounded on the stator then plugged it in to accomplish this, it's how I tested my gauge repair and upgrades, and if the MPEM, beeper, solenoid, etc was good or not.

I have a 97' GTX, it should be about the same routing, but check me on this with the service manual you can download which has the wiring schematics for reference. SeaDoo Manuals - FREE PDF Download!

I recall a small ground going from the battery to the front ground on the mag cover and the large ground was on the rear engine mount bracket using the stud for the driveshaft guard. Not sure I understand what you mean by the ground near the rear box?

Like I was stating, reference the SM in the link above, I'm sure my 97' model is fairly close in the architecture of grounding points.

My 2002 GTX main ground wire runs to Allen bolt on rear cylinder exhaust valve housing
Can you send me a photo if you dont mind. Is there another ground from the battery besides the ones going to the starter. I dont think the ground wire i have would reach the starter as it was attached to the rear engine mount bracket.

Im thinking that as long as the battery ground is attached to the block, the location doesnt matter. It's the 2nd ground wire i found which is bothering me.

So, I am having the issue also. There are 2 grounds? One on the Cylinders and one for the battery?
