There is a 2001 sea doo challenger listed near me. Nice clean boat and I spoke with the mechanic who has done all the work on the boat. He said both engines where replaced over the last couple years and are in good shape. Took the boat out last night and it ran good. I've never owned a jet bot and don't know much about them.

It seemed like a blast to play on and ran real nice. The couple that has the boat are in there 70's and mainly used it to run across the lake to the houseboat dock. They've kept it in the garage and looks real nice.

My main thing is if u don't dog these boats and use them to just run up and down the lake, are they really that costly on maintenance. I don't have a lot of money to put in a boat all the time and have read some horror stories about them. Just look for honesty on themImageUploadedByTapatalk1431015204.109220.jpg

If you have the 4-tec engines with Super Chargers, then you would have some expected / required maintenance.

But, with 2-strokes, it really is a matter of running quality fuel and the proper oil. In a ski that gets some pretty decent running the engines will often need a new top end about every 200 hours. I believe that will not be the case with you. If they are in fact fairly new and were driven by adults that didn't floor them all the time, you should get many years of use with minimal maintenance. If you were in salt water then it would diminish things over-all, but even then, with the proper cleaning and spraying down the engine with WD-40 or something like that, you'd still get many years of use.

For me, I will not own a boat that does not have twins. On a local lake having twins isn't as crucial but still very nice to have. If one breaks down, you can still get yourself home. Pretty hard to put a price on that...

The boat is a 2-stroke twin rotax and the least I can get them to take is $3500. Does it sound fair with both motors replaced over the last couple years

I am not the best at values, but it does sound fair to me as long as they can/will provide some evidence the engines are new. Are they able to tell you how many hours are on the engines.

I assume it comes with a trailer...

I would take 3 grand cash and see if that does it..

I offered the 3 grand cash and he wouldn't budge. Was asking 4k and came to 3500. One of the engines still has the warranty with it and needs to be broke in(from speaking to the mechanic)
