So was out running on the lake and it just quit so I thought it ran out of gas because someone had turned it to reserve and didn't tell me. So the next weekend I went and filled it up with gas and it won't start. I tried a few times and then pulled the plugs and saw no spark. I then looked at the fuses on the mpem and they were all fine then I looked at the one fuse in the rear electrical box it too was fine. I do have a small electronics background and checked all the things I could think of and I am lost. Nethier plug is sparking so i doubt both coils went out. Please help I love riding every weekend and now I am sitting on the bench..I hope the MPEM box isn't bad, oh one more thing a few weeks before all this I started it up in the driveway and she ran fine went to turn it off and it stayed running I think on only 1 cyclinder.

Thanks
G

Sometimes i have to do this, take fuel line going to carb, and w/ selector on/res syphin gas thru, maybe air bubble, causing gas not to pull. Also, cut plug wires back quarter inch, remove the boots and cut, to expose new wire, then reinstall. Check filter/s as well, and fuel lines if grey, replace

Dont think on spark, wait til evening, then watch for spark...white/blue=good, orangish/red=not good.
Could be vapor lock in fuel system, since running out of gas....but cut the plug wires though

Recheck the ground and connection from the coil,(plug wires come from), and get new plugs...Cant think the lighting coil, from stator is bad??

ok so I did all of the above and no spark. I am still a little confused about the air bubble and the spark being related?

What else can I try. All the beeps seem ok it turns over great, just no spark...

gas has nothing to do with it not having spark. it is possible that the stator went out or its a bad ground somewhere with the starting circuit. I would go back and pull all the fuses just to make sure they are good.

Thanks for the info. I will check the fuses again tonight. I was looking at a parts list and didn't see a stator mentioned. Are you talking about the coils?

hey...its mentioned as a "magneto". If this wasnt sunk, then I'm leaning the coil/s is bad(plug wires protruding from)....

If your model has a crank position sensor I would take a look at that. If it does and it's bad you will get no spark. Coils seldom go bad. Plug wires do go bad but not that often.
