Still having trouble with my smokey merc 240....replaced port side temp sender with no results, boat has a full tank of fresh fuel now with no leftover stabilizer. When going full throttle from a dead stop it pours white grey smoke and smokes blue when idling down a river. Please help! Uses more fuel then it should too i think.

I just bought a 00' Speedster with a 240 Merc as well. Same thing when I start it smokes pretty good. Hard to tell the colour of smoke. Had it out quite a few times. When I come idling it is when it gets really smoky. I get freaked out from all the horror stories about your oil not mixing correctly. I was going to try and do that oil line delete(premix job) just kn case to ever save me from a rebuild. Did you sort your issue out at all this summer or is it the same?

Many threads here about this.

Check fuel pressure and compression. Should be 36 and 135. What rpm are you getting at wot?

Sounds like time for injector service. They are 20 years old.
