Afternoon Sea Doers,

So I have a 2001 islandia with a pretty severe miss. I've checked the basics plugs etc. No results. Any common issues to go after before just taking shots at it?

Back story the previous owner(my cousin) sucked up a ski roap and fried the previous motor. He picked up a used one and dropped it in. Worked for like 10 minutes then started missing. Went back threw checked for screw ups on the install and couldn't find anything. Assuming the previous owner lied the motor came with the miss. Compression tests all came back around 140. I personally am new to jet boats but not a complete boat moron. I've had a few bass boats. Just dont know much about this jet. Boats in solid shape and im $2500 into the boat. This has to turn out a win right? Please? Haha

Thanks guys!

Since you are getting 140 psi x6, that leave fuel or ignition. You need spark testers that connect onto the spark plug wire. Confirm spark x6. Have you looked at the wires from the trigger base? 6 wires coming out from under the flywheel. Are they crumbly or good condition? If crumbly, you found the problem.

Fuel: are the spark plugs wet or dry? Clean or black? Have you checked the TPS? Check the vst pressure. Should be 36psi. Do you have the throttle guardian? In the driver helm box, small black box, about 1x3x4. They cause problems. Tps can cause computer to run full rich so engine is not starved. but can be so rich, that it floods. How about filters? There are 4. At the lift pump, the large spin-on, and inside the vst tank, and a strainer on the pickup tube in the tank. Maybe time for injector service.

Where did you get the replacement engine?
