Greetings everyone,

I have a 2001 Islandia (240EFI) that has several issues. 1 being low compression (60psi at idle) which seems to be an old engine issue. The boat will get to WOT but doesn’t quite have the speed to get on plane. Borescoping the pistons shows no wear or galling, spark plugs check out, all seems okay but that rings look worn (will replace in the off season). The other seems to be a sensor issue. When testing the 1st issue the engine pulled back power and idled high (3300rpm) like limp home mode. Pulling the throttle back to idle reset the issue. It is sporadic so we’re going to look at the CAN signals to see if we can figure out which one it is. Any advice on either issue?

Compression must be checked with boat out of the water, all spark plugs out, throttle full open, and a fresh fully charged battery.

Have you visually checked that the throttle plates are opening 100% at full throttle at helm?

3300rpm is not enough to plane an Islandia. Probably needs 5000. Check for spark on all 6 while running. You may have 2 cylinders not firing. But you could have 2 injectors not firing. Beware-- bad injectors mean those cylinders are not getting oil. Could be very expensive.
