I am new to Seadoo's and just purchased a used 2001 GTX. The ski has 77 hours on it and was just serviced at 75 hours. We took it out on Friday and didn't have any problems.

Today I hooked it up to the water hose to flush everything out. I started it up, then turned on the water. The engine revved to 5000 RPM and wouldn't shut-off. Not with the start/stop switch, not by pulling the key, nothing. I finally hit the throttle and it shut down while flashing hi-temp on the display. Hopefully nothing was damaged.

Any ideas? Is something wrong or was it just a fluke? Any ideas if it damaged anything?

Thanks!

It could be an air leak around the intake. If it ever does it in the future apply the choke. The choke allows more fuel in and cools off the combustion chamber and it will stall. That result you experienced is similar to what RC,(Radio Control) car engines do with a glow plug. You more than likely didn't do any harm.

Thanks Karl. I was able to start it back up later so that made me feel better.

Is there a way to figure out if that is what the problem is? What would it take to fix?
