2001 GTX-di... loss of power

I have been frustrated trying to figure this out myself!

The Good: It will always start as long as its charged, its been well maintained/ and serviced throughout the years.

The Bad: This all started back last summer, you would be going 70 full throttle then it would bogg down all the way to 30...but if you just completely let off, and held the throttle down again it would go back to full power... this would maybe happen twice an hour.

current problem is: From a stop when you go full throttle you there will be full power/torque up to 25-30mph then it just falls on its face. and sounds like its fighting to even hold that speed... Then starts beeping and sometimes displays msgs related to the 12v battery.

I have changed the spark plugs and put in a new battery. Before this it was sitting at the dealer for 6 months waiting for service and it was never even looked at do i brought it back home. Thats whole different nightmare part of this whole deal. Now it seems every Service dept we call says they will specifically NOT touch the GTX-di.

Thanks so much for taking the time to help, I hope i did an ok job of describing the issue! :patriot:

Welcome to the world of DI! But, your problem is not that bad. If 12v low is flashing, it's most likely your regulator(still have the battery checked for good measure). The regulator-rectifier is about $150 if my memory serves me correct and is VERY easy to install. It's located near the mpem... which in your boat is located in the bow- i think. 2 10 mm nuts is all you will have to remove. It's simple.

Shame on the dealer that will not work on your ski. Those di's are not that hard to work on once you have the theory down. Trouble shooting is straightforward on these machines.

I will keep that in mind as a possible problem thanks!

Yeah its a bummer that the only dealer i know that will work on it are the ones that had it for 6 months and didnt even look at it! They have a horrible history with the BBB as it is. There has to be a shop in Houston,Texas area that will help!

Thanks again for your help

YW. That is most likely your problem... more than just possible. When it comes to di's, I myself have gone through EVERY wire in my di... and have helped my friend that owns a local powersports shop fix many problems in his... aswell as his customers. All signs point to your reg-rectifier. Just buy one and install it. It really is simple. 2 nuts and 2 connectors. It's a 5 minute job. Don't pay someone to do that.
