2001 gtx di idle only

I have a 2001 gtx di, was running fine then alarmed and said maint, ran at idle only.
Unpugged the DESS key, said maint when it first started but ran good again.
Ran for a couple of hours run time over a few days and same thing happened, alarmed, said maint and ran at idle only. Just unplugged key again and running normal.
any ideas?
 
A CanDooPro would tell you exactly what caused it, but also set you back $400. The service manual, which can be easily found with a google search, will tell you all the possibilities that will cause an alarm, limp mode, and a maint light.
 
If you don’t have a candoo pro there are a couple checks you can perform.
Make sure your battery is fully charged and have it tested at your local auto parts store.
You can also put a volt meter on the battery then start the ski. Reading on the volt meter should be 13.5 to 14.5vdc. Anything below or above these readings indicates a bad rectifier.
Sometimes rectifiers will work until heated up then they start malfunctioning. I have had that happen before.
Most anything else will require a diagnosis with a candoo pro or buds system.

How do you like the Candoo Pro for diagnostics? Is it pretty accurate or just points to the general area of the problem? I connected to one of my DIs and was pretty surprised at how much more information it can supply over the earlier models. I need to learn about using this thing more fully.

I have had mine for several years and really like it. It is also an excellent tool for my 4 stroke ski.
 
Seldom have I had any diagnostic tool that pointed me directly to a problem I guess that's why they call it diagnostic and not problem solving. LOL We'll see what I think about it after I use it on a few DI's. :D Thanks for then input.

I tried diagnosing a di for about 2 months After identifying all issues i could find it was still in limp mode...Tps adaption fault....In my eyes with a di theses candoos are worth their weight in gold

I have a Di with the same fault right now and I just received my CanDoo Pro this morning! Did you replace the TPS? How hard was it to do?

The process is in the service manual i just made sure they were fully closed and reset the tps. I adjusted the throtle cable somehow while taking the motor in and out so that was my issue. just make sure tps are within range or it wont let you reset
 
I need help with my 02 gtx di acts like its in lump mode but when you slowly push the gas in it will take off now you can hold the gas all the way down and will not pass 10 mph
 
My RX DI did this on one occasion with me at the controls. It was suggested that I replace the Rectifier. I did this and it hasn't done it sense. Try removing and replacing the DESS key. Mine worked afer that. Perhaps it resets something.
