I recently purchased this ski and just filled it up with oil only to find out that I had a leak somewhere and oil is leaking into the hull. My dad took a look at the ski (since it is at his cottage) and said that it seems to be leaking out of the oil tank where the two halves of the oil tank come together. Has anyone else seen this type of thing? Is there a seal that goes inbetween the halves? Is there any type of sealer that can be used to seal this leak up? He said that he tried to get the oil tank out but couldn't because of the oil level sensor. How does this sensor come out of the tank?

Thanks in advance.

Yes it is a somewhat common failure for the tank to crack at the seam. You have to purchase a new tank.

The sensors and such pull out the top.

or you can try welding it. Have a solder gun, and use zip ties, or just the gun, and run it down crack. Then try with water, if no leak, then refill back with oil.

first thing is first, make sure the tank is cracked, as fluid will follow any seam. they do sell plastc welding kits, you may also find that if the tank is cracked they are pretty cheap on ebay........
