Looking to replace the powerhead on my 2001 challenger 2000. My engine S/N is OE387510. Will any 240 SJ powerhead from crowly marine work? Looks like they're from 2002-2006 and mine is a 2001. Just want to make sure I'm ordering the proper part before wasting time and money for return shipping. Thanks in advance for any help it will be greatly appreciated.

2001 Challenger 2000 240 efi powerhead replacement

2000-2001 is "Gen1" for the 240 EFI. It has a magneto stator under the flywheel. 2002+ is "Gen2" and has a belt-driven alternator off the flywheel (among other differences like intake, oil pump, etc.). Gen2 is not a direct replacement for Gen1 powerheads. Bare block? I'm not positive.
