well i got the all knowing book and it's not much help. the speedo is not working the fuel gauge is not working and i have no clue to start.

oh one more thing what is the deal with this XP..... XPL.... XP LTD

ARE THEY ALL THE SAME?

ok so i took the seat off and pulled the meter out of the fuel tank.the magnets are still strong enought to pick up a 1/2 wrench and the float still floats.i put a volt meter in the wires and slowly turned the meter right and left, there was no change on the meter. what part do i need? oh i checked the fuses too.... all good.

Did you check the speed sensor? Those seem to be prone to going out. I am in the same... er... boat. Just had not changed the sensor out yet. Look for a plate with a little paddle wheel.

my little wheel is still there and spins freely but it will still not read. what do you know about the fuel gauge?

Well, the wheel should spin free, but that is not usually the problem. The sensor goes out often and even though the wheel spins, the sensor does not produce the proper signal. Honestly, I don't know that much about the fuel gauge though.

i found the issue with the fuel gauge. the board inside the baffle has a onboard fuse that blew. i was getting no reading at all so i used a ban saw and cut the thing open. i will post pis tonight.

try this out.......

This issue has been gone over a million times. I've deleted the hypelink, since it's agains't the TOS policy of the forum.

What I don't understand is why people are not reading the forum. If you would, you would find a solution to your problem and the baffle and how to make these repairs here. And it's a sticky to boot!.......
