Hey. We are just installing the engine in the boat, connecting all the hoses and cables.
The cable as seen in the attached picture is a mystery. It moves when the steering wheel is turned.
Connects into the front of the engine, somewhere. Looking for some help to figure out where it goes.

If there is a name for the system this cable is part of it would help to know. We will need to adjust it.

We did not remove the engine. Bought the boat with the engine out and in pieces.
Thanks

This helps with low speed steering by bumping the throttle slightly when hard over on the wheel. It attaches to the throttle linkage.

thanks poppie
I have the manual but i just don't see how or where it connects to the throttle.
I have read some people disconnect this system. Maybe mine had been disconnected and parts removed?
Either way, we can start the motor and test drive (if it runs).

It is the throttle assist cable that can boost throttle 500-1200rpm when docking or tight maneuvering. Some people like. Some people hate it. And leave it disconnected. If you want it- the stainless bracket in the foreground is what the cable nut attaches to. There should be a plastic disk (smaller than a dime) that snaps into the linkage on the throttle body (AKA induction manifold). There are adjustments to be made at the bracket and in helm box on steering cable to "balance" throttle response.

There will not be any reference to the system in the Merc book. It was a Seadoo thing. See the Seadoo book.

It should not interfere with starting the engine. Just make sure that the throttle plates are actually slightly open. If you don't want to use the system, just zip-tie it out of the way so it can't tangle anything and maybe block throttle wide open.
