When you flush the engine the hose that runs between the transom and engine needs to be pinched off. Seadoo has a hose pincher tool to do this. But it looks like some bright individual came up with their own shut off valve to close that hose for flushing.

Those are COLD water valves.

The hot water valves are RED.

There is a possibility of failure, due to heat, due to the fact that the valves are SO CLOSE to the head. Worst case scene is a little dribbling though.

So, if you get this one, in your own time, change to the hot water valves, to be sure.

Valves.......

Someone installed valves.......how clever.

The valves are there for two purposes. If you lose an engine and hobble back home on one engine, you can close that valve to prevent water ingestion. When towing or on a twin engine boat, the dead motor can flood with water, since the nozzle will build water pressure as the boat is moving through the water. It's recommended to pinch this line for towing and also for winterizing.

Nate, since that is the incoming water line, the water should be cold there and with the temperature of the head to the touch, no hotter than about, 140*F, I don't think the hot or cold valves really matter. But, to play it safe, the hot water valve is built to withstand the extremes.........so, it may be a better valve......
