Greetings

Just purchased this 2000 RX, the VTS does not work. I can hear "Clicking" when I try to engage it. My thought is that the motor is locked up. The person who sold it to me told me that they had replaced it a couple of times along with the VTS board but the rubber boot always ended up leaking at some point in the year and caused the damage.
1. Is it the motor?
2. How do I prevent this from occuring again?
3. Hom much am I going to be swearing when working on this?

Thanks in advanced....

The VTS is easy to work on, but you can swear when your doing if you like, just not required.

That boot leaking in the back is usually the culprit of most VTS problems. Usually when you buy a new one, they dont leak for a long time if it is put on there good and snug.

Here is a quick test you can do for the motor with a multi meter:

First check the 7.5 amp fuse and make sure it's not blown.

Put meter probes on both BLUE/ORANGE and GREEN/ORANGE wires. Measure resistance, it should be close to 1.5 ohm.

If motor seems to jam up remove the VTS motor and try to rotate the worm gear with your hand.

If everything check out there it could be the VTS module.
