So i bought a 2000 rx 951 off a buddy of mine last year. The only issue he had with it was the starter which he replaced right before selling it to me. After taking it out a few times it began having cranking issues. It will turn over fine for about five seconds and then it acts like the battery is dead but it's fully charged. You let it set for about a minute or so and try again the process repeats. It will eventually crank up but it's annoying and kinda scary whenever you're out on the water miles from the ramp. lol. I haven't checked the solenoid yet. Could that be the problem? It's also fouling the plugs like crazy. Is there any way to adjust the oil injection? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

He probably installed an aftermarket starter. IMHO, all aftermarket starters are junk. OEM is the only way to go. You get what you pay for.

Yep. I'm not sure what brand but it is the second one. The first one was warranted because the brushes were burnt and the one in it now is the replacement they gave him. And I know all about getting what you pay for. If that is the problem you can bet your ass the next one will be OEM!

I agree with Chester. I never ever install aftermarket or rebuilt electrical items. Their reliability is never what it needs to be. And I still have a brand new ARCO starter here that I opted never to install even though I have money tied up in it.

As for your plugs fouling.......what oil are you using and what plugs are installed now? This should be the first thing to check.............
