2000 merc m2 240 plug gap

Hello I have 2000 m2 240. The stamp on the block says .060 and the service manual I have says .040.

Anyone have this engine seen this befor or have any recommendations for the gap. I live in florida.

the manuals I have are 2000 and 2002

240 HP Type Capacitor Discharge
Spark Plug Type NGK BPZ8HS10
Spark Plug Gap .040 in. (1.0mm)

2002 says

Digital Inductive
NGK BPZ8HS-10
0.040 in. (1.0 mm)

I think if they got it wrong in 2000 the would have edit it by 2002. I say trust the manual. of course I know nothing about the topic personally but I had a triumph spitfire that wouldn't run right if you set the gap to what the manual said. since then I don't know what to think

I gap mine at .040 for a 2001 challenger 240hp
