I just got this boat. It ran well in test drive but when I took it out today, it would not plane out with as little as 5 (normal size) people in it. It would get right up in a plane with 1-3. Rpms where not an issue. It would go right up to 5400 but just not get up on a plane. Any ideas?

Agreed... it might even be more simple then that... take a look inside the impeller chamber from the bottom where the intake grate is and make sure there is no debris blocking the intake. The Islandia is a big heavy boat, so even a small bit of weeds or debris blocking the intake might be enough drag on the power output to make the difference.

And if you find that the intake is completely clear of debris... then Coastiejoe's suggestion is probably the issue.

So how do you check the wear ring? Can you do it on the boat?

I have heard that but always wondered if you need to take everything apart to do that? or is it possible to do it in place?

Yes, the ring has to come off. Layer it down then sand. Some also paint it with the Merc black after their done. I have never gotten a good grasp on how long it holds up but if it kicks replacing or a stainless insert out a few years it might be worth ago.
