Hey all,

My GTX has electrical issues. Last season the ski ran great, but towards the end the key became kinda touchy. I would have to play around with it a little for it to read. I bought a new key and got it programmed which worked for a while but after winterization the ski now has no power at all.

when I put the key in I get no beep and none of the dash lights come on. I just recently put a brand new rear electrical box in, as well as a new 12V battery.

I tested the solenoid and it’s getting power. When I bridge the solenoid with a screwdriver the engine begins to crank (if that means anything). I checked all the fuses and they are all good.

I was told to check the DESS post so I tested it and found that there is in fact continuity. Someone mentioned that it could be the start/stop switch...would that make the ski not power up at all? Do you guys think it’s an MPEM Issue?

I don’t know much about the machine and I’m not very good with electrical so please try to dumb it down for me with explanations lol. I have a multimeter and test light to try things out so feel free to throw suggestions...thank you all!

It could easily be the dess post, I have had bad/failing dess posts that tested correctly with a meter,,,Is it charging?,,,and do a "load" test on that new battery, I once had a bad "new" one.

if you hit the start/stop button, with the key OFF the ski, it should beep at you. that will test your 12v and the beeper if both work. The gauges should turn on too for 30 seconds. if you get gauges, but no beep, I suspect beeper. if you get nothing, i suspect a power problem. just to check, it's the correct battery? 12v lead acid i used to know the model by heart when I had 5 951 skis in my garage... never bothered with the fancy batteries. it was cheaper to just buy a new cheap one every spring.

I've noticed some skis don't turn on for 30 seconds when the start button is pushed but still work properly when the key is inserted. I have one that does it sometimes. LOL It never bothered me enough to figure it out.

@SabrToothSqrl Hey sorry for getting back so late but I did some trouble shooting and found out this info:

We sent the MPEM to get tested and it turns out that it works just fine. We also got a new key programmed to the MPEM so that both of those will be ruled out.

When we insert the key there is no power, lights to the dash, or beeper at all. I changed out the rear electrical box with new stuff so that isnt the problem either. Please let me know what you suggest.

If the mpem and lanyard are good and power is good and getting to where it should it sounds like the DESS post isn’t sensing or picking up the lanyard being attached.

I believe the rear e-box is just the ignition coils. it shouldn't do much for your issue. I suspect the DESS post as well.

Assuming the rear box is the same as a 787 , check to see if the 15amp fuse is making a good connection. Something easy to check.
