Hello All,
I've recently purchased a 2000 Seadoo GTI 717. It has the old school mechanical style fuel and speedometer gauges. I've already taken apart and fixed the fuel gauge needle as it had fallen off, (as well as replaced the baffle), so that is now working.
Now, the speedometer, as soon as the key is put on it jumps to around 15mph, and stays there until it is turned back off. I have unplugged the speed sensor in the rear of the ski, no change. I took the gauge out and took it apart, I did not find anything obviously burnt or wrong, however it did have an interesting "smell" to it, not burnt smelling but almost burnt smelling, I don't know if that makes sense.
At any rate, these gauges are an expensive gamble especially considering that they are rarely even remotely correct, it just bothers me that something isn't working as it should. Does anyone have any troubleshooting tips or advice on what I can check to try to hone in more on the problem?
Thanks!
