2000 Challenger Ignition Switch :(

I have a bunch of butchered wires coming from my 2000 Challenger 1800 w/ the Mercury M2 in it. It starts and runs but.... To crank it up all you need to do is turn it to the on position and it immediately starts cranking and fires up. I took a closer look at the engine with the flywheel cover removed and it engages the flywheel and starts and then disengages the flywheel but the starter continues to run. Should a try to hook all the wires back up the correct way and try it or just put in a separate switch to run the starter?

Another thing is just something I am hunting I need the bushings for the (hum not sure what they call this) the deal that controls the water flow from the nozzle controlling forward reverse neutral. It's all loose and kinda flops around on the pivot bolts. I am guessing there is supposed to be bushings.

Thanks I hope to get some info on this stuff.

If it was mine, I would either go through and fix all the wires properly, or replace the ignition switch. It might be personal preference, but I would rather know it was fixed right than just made to work. Nothing worse than trying to row a speed boat when you are miles from shore.

For the slop in your reverse bucket, there are bushings available from Crowely Marine. Check the link below.

Thanks for the info and the link. I am getting the manual with the wiring diagrams. I can't see myself buying the switch for a couple hundred bux but I might have to. I will wait to review the wiring diagram.
