New to the forum and Sea-Doo boats.

I have a young family (oldest is 5) and want a boat that would be fun on the lake here in New Orleans. I would also like to take it out occasionally in to the bayous to fish. I love the look and roominess of the Challenger. I found one for under $1000, that is said to have a cracked piston. Being this will be my first time buying/owning a boat (Uncle, dad and Brother-in-law have stern drive boats), is this a good purchase? My dad is a mechanic boat and auto and can fix pretty much anything.

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks

You might want to get an estimate from a Merc mechanic, or a Mercury-friendly seadoo shop just to give you an idea of the time it may take, and the cost of parts before attempting it yourself. Not that it can't be done, the cost of parts may be more than you expect, and much more than the average work on a 2-stroke rotax engine.

Good luck,
