Hello everyone, new here and thanks for the add.
Boat is : 2000 Seadoo challenger 2000 with 240 MercM2 jet drive
Problem happened today on the water. Was cruising at 30 mph when the boat fell flat on its face. As in stalled. Started up and then stalled again as I tried to increase the rpm. Its as if the ignition was turned off. So to begin 3 weeks ago had boat running the longest it ever has which was 1.5 hours straight. I looked down at a volt gauge I installed and the voltage was up at 17 volts, I then idled down and saw volts drop to 12v then increased rpm and it went back to normal at 14v. When it was at 17v I noticed rpm gauge was erratic. However is smooth out and system was charging fine. This was all at a cruising speed of about 30 mph. As I continued I took the boat to top speed which is 47mph ( I find this low) but I figure its an old boat. At WOT I found the engine started missing, just a slight miss but still a miss. When I would slow down to 35mph it was fine no miss. Took it home and changed plugs in hopes this would cure the top end miss. Today was my first day out since and it fired up cold no problem and ran good with no miss at WOT. Ran hard for about an hour with no hi-cups. Slowed it down to cruise it back at 30mph @ 4000 rpm.. was good for about 20 mins, then ,voltage up to 17 then down to 12v, i played with the throttle lever and got the voltage to stabilize at 14v , but then it just stalled, started up running rough but then stalled again and again every time I took the rpm up. Then wouldn't start (crank no start) Then started and idled and even got to 2000rpm, but would then stall.
Run down or parts replaced in last couple years
TPS- Had a bad smoke issue at Idle.. found Tps to be defective
2 New OEM voltage regulators - Old oem ones caught fire lucky I caught it in time
Port side tempsensor- Hard hot start issues
Plugs and fuel filter get changed yearly.
Any input would be appreciated, I love the forum and have read it over the years which has helped me tremendously with this boat. I tip my hat off to guys Like DR.Honda for their wisdom of knowledge and helping manner. Hopefully I can figure this out as summer up here in Canada ends in 3 weeks.
Cheers to everyone and Thanks in advance.
