A friend of mine who works in a Stihl shop has told me that their "Stihl 2 stroke Ultra HP oil" is ok for my 95 GTX 650X engine, is this the case.

Here is a description of their product :-

No matter how you slice it (or trim it or shred it), there’s no better protection for your high performance 2-stroke engine than STIHL HP Ultra. This 2-cycle engine oil has outstanding engine cleaning characteristics, plus “ultra” lubricating qualities that’s superior to other 2-cycle engine oils. This fully synthetic oil is also highly biodegradable, degrading by 80% in 21 days. We’re so confident this oil will protect your engine, we’ll double your STIHL limited warranty* when you use it. It’s that good.

*Double your warranty when you include 6 bottles of STIHL HP Ultra Oil or 6 cans of STIHL MotoMix® Premixed Fuel with your STIHL product purchase. Double limited warranty protection applies to STIHL gasoline-powered products purchased and registered for personal non-income producing, family and household purposes only. Other restrictions apply. See dealer for details.

I have not bought any yet, but if you guys say its fine, I might try it.

I look forwrd to your replies

i wouldn't advise taking advice from a chainsaw salesman.
there are several products that are tried and true, I see no reason to get creative.

I'll leave it at that.

i would normally agree that buying "whatever" off the shelf is probably a bad idea BUT, i noticed that you are in the UK. when i was there in June, i noticed that the generic 2-stroke oil on the shelf at the TESCO's was API-TC rated, so would technically be suitable for your ski.

Thanks for this, I will look at tescos. The issue raised its head because, I commented on the price of oil over here, Gas is almost $3.00 a litre and a decent 2 stroke oil is $75.00 a gallon.

Its pretty dear to run a jet ski, then theres the insurance, it needs to be £1million pound 3rd party, the launch fees, my local site wants £58.00 per year registration and then £13.00 per launch. So you can see why he offered me the oil, but I will check Tescos out.

Many thanks

Actually guys.... it's a synthetic "Air-cooled" 2-stroke. It's actually CERTIFIED API-tc and JASO-FB.

I guess if you can get it at a good price... it's OK to use. BUT... do not mix it with any other brand of oil. Bad things could happen. SO... drain what's in your oil system before putting that stuff in.

With that said... here in the states... that stuff is UBER-expensive. A 6-pack of 50:1 mix, (for a 2.5 gal of fuel) is about $50. So... with some sloppy math.... that's about 39oz.... and that would be almost $200 gal for oil !!!!!!!!!!!

I'll stick to my XPS for about $40 gal.

Yep. Socialism, reallocation of wealth....I hope the US doesn't go in that direction.

Thanks again for your help.

Ok did my looking and no place around sells API-TC like AMsoil or Mistik J+4 or any other product including quicksilver synthetic at walmart, I would have to drive 90 Miles one way to get any of this so I have to order it online , who sells this stuff for a good price, oh and I still dont beleaive the whole cant use TCW-3 synthetic blend by other brands that say they are better then ANY APi-TC But do to the fear that I have been put in I will go along with the masses on this even though I think its just Seadoo trying to Manopilize on that market and would not doubt for one moment that they have done just that, any other reason for not being able to use the other brands when all the rest of the skis can and they seem to last just as long as a seadoo if not longer, please dont take afence to this I just question everything

there is a vendor on ebay, Mositesmotorsports, that sells the full synth seadoo xps for 47 bucks a gallon with free shipping in the US.

I'm with Jake. The socialism train has already left the station.

We need to derail it before it picks up any more speed.

wal mart has quicksilver, or just go to amsoil.com (buy a preferred trial membership, get a case for $131 shipped to your door in 2 days) i have 3 seadoo buddies, we buy a case a month and split it up.

and yes, its not like putting tcw3 in there is going to blow the engine up, i put in a LOT of hours on mine with tcw3 before I knew i wasn't supposed to, besides some gummy raves,, no impact. and yes the engine has been apart since and inspected carefully so nobody's going to tell me that I have "hidden" damage, i don't. but I still use the right stuff n ow.
