2 questions about 97 Challenger twin engine

The manual is a little confusing about flushing the motors. Do I need to use a hose pincher when flushing from the taps that are under the engine cover? There is also a flush tap under the boat which does both engines at the same time and I'm thinking if I use that location is the only time I need a pincher.

Second question: I hear you can just remove the oil pump shaft and put back the pump when going premix, leaving the oil lines intact. Instead of doing that, cuz it's a pain to get to my pumps on both engines, can I just disconnect the oil pump cable at the carb which is easier to get to? Is it necessary to remove the shaft? My thinking is no cable to move the pump, it would not be injecting oil?
