Well I am officially 2 months into owning my speedster and I had no idea having a boat could be this much fun !!!!!

I have owned a few boats over the last 25 years and still own another boat and well all I can say is there is no comparison to owning a boat and having a seadoo boat.

Pretty well every person that has come for a ride wether they are 5 or 65 absolutely loves the boat and my 1750 sportfish has seen the water for 2 hrs compared to 20 with my speedster . I cannot express how much me, my wife, our kids , granddaughter, friends, and family have enjoyed this boat so far.

Well enough telling you all something you already know. I love this bad boy so much I have decided to redo the gel coat , reupholster the seats and put some tlc into this bad boy this winter. I will post the progress once I put it away for the winter and will most likely be leaning on all you folks for help along the way.

All 4 cylinders are at 138 psi and was told they only had roughly 120 hours on them when I bought it .. we will see once we hooker up .... but have had her up to 58mph on GPS on the lake and my god the fun doing 360's and being able to go anywhere and I mean anywhere ...something I couldn't do with my other boats.

I have been reading alot of posts and watching a few projects on the forums here and am sooooooooo glad to own a seadoo and even happier to have found this community !!!!!

If anyone has any tips fo getting her ready mechanically for the winter I would appreciate it as well.

Will keep you all posted !!!

Well looks like my first post was in the wrong area ....if someone knows how I can move this post to 2 stroke boats let me know thanks

138 psi is a little low on the compression... so I would do the test again with a known good gauge. Also, open the throttles, and make sure the battery has full charge. But, it sounds like it's running good.

Winterizing these boats is simple. I know everyone has their method... and the book has you do a bunch of different things... but here's how I do it.

1) On your last ride of the season... make sure you put in a good dose of Marine Stay-Bil in the fuel. (blue bottle) I personally run it all year to help combat water issues... but you want to make sure it's mixed into the fuel, and run into the engines before it's being parked for the winter.

2) Pull the cooling feed hose off the head, and put on a short hose with a funnel. Then slowly pour in half a gallon of RV (pink) anti-freeze.

3) Start one of the engines... and spray fogging oil into the running engine. (should almost kill it) After 5~10 seconds... shut it down... pull the spark plugs, and spray the fogging oil into each plug hole. (Then put the plugs back in)

3b) Don't restart that engine until you are ready for spring. Otherwise, you will need to re-fog it.

4) Fog the second engine.

5) Make sure all the water is out of the hull. (tip the nose up, and let it drain out)

6) Use a silicon spray oil... and hose off any exposed metal on the pumps, and in the engine compartment.

That's about it.

I do recommend servicing the pumps before parking it for winter. The reason is... if water has gotten into them... it could freeze and cause damage.

With the exception of serving the pumps... the actual winterizing should only take 15 minutes. So NEVER pay a dealer to do it !!!

Wow thanks for the quick response guys .. I am definately upgrading to premium membership this weekend.

The gauge I used was a cheap one ... and unfortunately I have been riding this thing like I stole it since purchasing in June. I have owned a few snowmobiles and the snap this little boat has in the water is unreal. I am going to take it in to a place where they can tell me my hours so I know exactly what I am dealing with. So far have just put gas and oil in and hammered the throttle and spin the wheel and these little 2 strokes handle it like a champ. Maxes out around 6800 or 7000 rpm and jumps. After reading some threads think if all checks out with engines I will redo carbs, and change the impellers and wear rings .... as well as any other maintenance that I find on the site here . Si ce she has survived my heavy throttle and pummeling so far would like to get these things tip top.

Dr Honda thanks for the winterization instructions.

Also was wondering the guy I bought this off of didn't seem to use a synthetic oil .. can I mix them or should I drain all oil in reservior and add new stuff

Same here. I've had my 98 Sportster since June and absolutely love it.....and everyone that comes aboard says the same. It's the perfect boat for me. 2 strokes and jet pumps are easy to work on compared to marine engines/outboard drives. Light and easy to tow with half ton truck. Pulls wakeboarders with ease. Can be tossed around like a ski. Love it! Wish I got turned on to these boats earlier.

Next addition is brass pumps with Solas Concord impellers then a wake tower.
