Does anyone know if 2 cycle Carbureted PWCs are allowed on Lake Shasta?? I had my 1991 Sea Doo GT on it in 2011, but have times changed?? Going this summer, need to know if I need to leave that one and my '87 Kawi 650 stand up home.... Thank you......

only places 2 stroke PWCs are specifically banned are national recreation area lakes and private lakes that have decided to ban them. other city, county, and state managed lakes are not allowed to make the distinction except under special circumstances like holiday weekends where all PWCs would be banned. For example, Lake Austin in Texas does not allow PWCs on the water during the memorial day weekend or 4th of July weekend due to the amount of traffic that the lake will have during those times.

Hey Strizzo ...
Not to be disrespectful or rude in any way, but this is California and California is really weird and crazy in many ways. There is only one fresh water lake within reasonable driving distance from me that allows either PWC in general or 2-strokes. Loads of local governments put their own restrictions seemingly based on whoever whines the most.

Fred,
check the Lake Shasta web site to be sure of the latest; google search for lake shasta will get you there. I would not want to guess or even quote the latest restrictions placed by dingbats ... oops, I really intended to say local politics driven by environmental whacos ... oops, maybe I could restate that, maybe not.

Thanks Rod,

I took a quick look via google before I posted the question and didn't really find anything on Shasta per sey, but Trinity is a no no.... I think the best course of action is to call the marina where we are renting the houseboat (been going through them for over 25 years, just missed a three years in that time) and ask them... Sold my almond ranch in central California and moved to Nevada (best move ever), just as California is running out of water for people, never mind crops...... the fish will always have water, that's the law in Cali.....

Sorry you are victim of the San Francisco whackos favoring saving a little commercially useless fish from extinction and sacrificing farmers, ranchers and workers ... not to mention the cost increase of grown products. I don't want to get started on this one. I too have been looking for a long time to get the hell out of California (grew up in Alaska, but have become very spoiled by the weather here), but until last year the job kept me here.

You are correct; call the marina.
