Hi,
I hope this is the correct place to post this question in. If not my apologies.
I have a 1995 Sea Doo SPI with the 587cc 2 cycle engine. It has a single barrel carb in it.
I've rebuilt the card and replaced all the fuel lines. It'll idle but won't get into the high rpm's to get moving fast.

It was suggested I may want to purchase a brand new carb for it if I can find one.
The reason being ethanol eats away at the inside of the carb and they'll never run correctly again.

Any advise weather I should purchase a brand new carb?
Or can the thing be adjusted properly?

I see a lot of 90's 2 cycle skis with carb issues listed for sale on FB market place.

No, the ethanol doesn't eat away the inside of the carbs.

What carb kit did you buy?
If it wasn't a genuine Mikuni kit with new needle and seat that is the problem. Also do not replace the stock spring unless it is damaged as the ones in the kits are wrong.

Some people do buy new carbs since a carb rebuild is around $100 to do it correctly and a new carb is $200.

Hey, thanks for the information.
I bought on off brand rebuild carb kit.
I'll probably buy a new card for it.

Rebuilding it is not difficult. Save yourself some money. You'll have it rebuilt in less than an hour of you follow miki's carb rebuild thread

I got the new carb rebuild kit. Ill report back the difference between and after-market and a genuine parts carb kit. Hopefully its night and day.

Did you eliminate a fuel delivery issue from the pickup, and especially the petcock, You can easily bypass the petcock and run the inline to the carb directly from the pickup. Also I assume that you don't have the "gray" fuel lines.

I haven't completely eliminated fuel delivery to the carb as an issue. Thats a good idea to bypass the petcock. The fuel lines were replaced with black automative fuel lines.

Im gonna start the carb rebuild tonight with the genuine Mikini parts. Itll be nice if I can hit the lake for Memorial Day weekend.

Question, why did you go through the carbs in the first place?, what were your symptoms?,,,just curious?

I bought it where it would only run on starting fluid. It did need rebuilding when I took the carb apart. The rubber gaskets were dried out.
