Took my ski out to the ocean today with a buddy and his boat! It was a ton of fun. The ocean took my sandal's, sunglass, and gave me one hell of a sun burn! Besides the ocean beating me up as the current picked up I got a couple good wave jumps in. I started with a full tank and I finished with 1 bar left lol! Went a total of 50 miles. Here is a pick of my ski on a sandbar. Got home flushed out the engine with salt away for 2 mins then sprayed the inside of the hull with the salt away and then the outside of the jet ski. Then finally sprayed all the moving parts and inside the hull with sea doo anti corrosive lube. I found what looks to be a chip in the clear coat. Can I just put clear nail polish on that?

I am hooked and can't wait to get out again!

that sounds like it would be a blast. Im in ohio so its along way from the ocean for me but want to get there someday. We do have lake erie thats only an hour away and it can get some good wave action on it also. Im not sure if the nail polish will hold up or not. im sure someone will chime in with a good solution for you.

I've got a spot of clear nail polish on a small hole on my hull caused by a protruding nail on a floater. It's been there for 3yrs or so...no probs.

You can buy auto clear coat in the little touch up bottles, it should hold up better than nail polish....

I did not go to the ocean, at least not lately, lol. If it gets any dryer here I may need to head to the ocean, lol. BTW, thanks for the welcome.....

I'm from WI and went in the ocean around where the OP is talking about, that was a rough day to get out for sure, endless waves crashing over you on the way out.

We hit the ocean somewhat regularly here... the lake is fun, but when you have the added enjoyment of catch 3 to 5 foot swells it makes the ride a bit more intense. :)

Just remember jeepmiller... whenever you come off the wave let off the throttle when the impeller comes unhooked from the water! You'll save a lot of wear on your ski and a lot of headache in maintenance in the future. ;)

Thank you for brining that up. I know for sure one time I came out of the water so I let off. But other times I was not sure so I kept letting off the gas got kind of annoying after a while. I was just watching the rpms any time I saw it jump 1,000 in rpms I let off. Is that a fair judgment call when to let off the throttle?

Let me look at my schedule and send you some dates I can ride. Will meet you somewhere it you would like.

I have two skis, so will likely bring my girlfriend or a guest if she can't make it.

OK?

Sorry... was out of town the last week on our annual motorcycle run.
It does get a little annoying if it's really wavey and all you do is come out of the water every couple of seconds, but you get a feel for it after a while and it isn't so mind-consuming. You can hear the ski come unhooked most times and you'll learn to just react to it naturally.
